Elise Minnick’s Research!
Sep 25th, 2007 by Elise Minnick
This research project has to do with the sit-ins led by CORE and James Farmer. What made them work in Chicago? I’d like to find out more about why or why not they were successful, and what made them that way. Did James Farmer intend for the movement to be as big as it was? Right now, I have Farmer’s autobiography “Lay Bare the Heart,” as a reference, but ideally, I’d like to know more about the sit-in movement.

Your topic sounds very interesting. Have you found enough resources to answer your questions? Are there any newspaper articles from the Chicago newspapers and/or any other newspapers from other cities where they occurred?
I think thats extremely important. Its of relavence to our class and civil rights as awhole, but its also showing Farmers pioneering efforts in civil rights. How do you plan on gettting any outside sources on them. Old Chicago newspaper articles?
