Memorandum to A.J. Muste
Oct 30th, 2007 by Thebigenchilada
Leads: 1)The memorandum-Where is the original? (Not included in Swarthmore College’s collections on A.J. Muste or FOR)
2) Is the one in the back of the book exactly the same, or rewritten?
3) Is it stored in James Farmer’s stuff?
4) Why was it important enough to be included in the Appendix-especially the first entry?
5) Is it copyrighted so that I cannot post it online?
Swarthmore College does not have the memorandum. In the collection of Muste papers there is a gap during his years with the Fellowship of Reconciliation. They do have correspondance with Farmer during those years, but none of them are the memorandum. I am going to see if they can send me the correspondance anyway.

-Check out the Federation of Reconciliation:
There is a remnant of FOR. They are in effect today working on equality issues that continue to plague the United States, such as with Latin American equality. The website is http://www.forusa.org/
I have contacted them to see if I can access any old documents they have on file. They have not replied.
I emailed the publisher of Lay Bare the Heart to see if a) it held any copyright information and b) if they knew of the whereabouts of the original. Unfortunatley the publisher seemed to know nothing about anything.
