Richard Gallant Research Project

Are there any individuals with first hand accounts of James Farmer’s civil rights campaign and if so would it be possible to contact them and/or have them speak to us?
To answer my question, I would need to start conducting research to see who James Farmer worked with during his civil rights campaign and find out when he did so. I would then need to discover if they are still around and able to be contacted. Then I would need to attempt to contact the individuals and see if they would be willing to speak to our class, or just have them answer a few questions for me. With all of the information collected from these individuals with a first hand account of James Farmer’s campaign, I would then be able to summarize and hopefully create a general conception about James Farmer and how he affected people during his time.
I will attempt to try and contact Congressman John Lewis. I will begin by finding a contact number to reach him at, and then if my call is not answered, I will attempt to contact him via email. Hopefully if I am able to reach Congressman Lewis, I would request an interview with him, or ask if he would like to speak to our class. If I am allowed an interview I would ask questions about James Farmer and his days during the civil rights movement. With this information collected i will attempt to create a summary from John Lewis’ answers and if possible, come out of the interview with some more possible contacts to talk to about James Farmer.
